This was our Tolkien groups' final hike/scramble before the 5-day trip next week. Equipped with helmets, we set out (8:30am) under a haze filled sky.

From Chilliwack Lake Rd, it took a good hour to drive to the trailhead. There are many water bars on the Chipmunk Creek FSR. Thanks for driving my 4x4 again, Johnny!

After a bit of a descent, we were in the meadows on the trail shared by both Lady & Cheam Peaks.

Spoon Lake.

Once on the Lady Peak trail, the terrain got increasingly steeper, going straight up the slope.

Mt. Cheam in the background.

We did some boot-sliding on the scree.

Unlike the day before when we hiked Mt. Ruth, the sky was not so clear.

From the ridge, you could see the Fraser River and Jones Lake -- north.

Foley Peaks in the background -- east.

How to get to the summit? This ascent looked rather sketchy. Iraj's GPS said we had to go right of the peak. So I dropped down a bit lower and pick my way up the west-facing side.

Spoon Lake way below us.

It was not the best way to climb up. I met Iraj & Sheri at the summit.

Slesse, Shuksan, Tomyhoi & you can barely see Mt. Baker -- south. Sheri went a bit farther along the narrow ridge.

We had an audeince. I descended on the east-facing side which proved to be the better route to take.

Sheri guided a few more hikers to the summit.

Heading back down. The three fasties, Sheri, Cindy & Brigette went on to do Mt. Cheam as well.

Our car load was fine with going back to the vehicle for Happy Hour.
Jones Lake.

Team work.

Finally off of the very steep slope and connecting with the Mt. Cheam trail.

Good-bye Lady.

Indian Paintbrush

Johnny, Carmen, Iraj & I were waiting at the parking lot for over an hour before the last hikers filtered in. But we were not complaining. We had our chairs, our ice-cold drinks and the warm sun beaming down on us. And great company.
