Bear Mt.

April 13 - 20 km / 1170m gain / 1088m high / 5:45 hours MT

With the gold mine being reopended and snow on half of the trail, would we get to our destination? Not only did we get there and have our "Wow!!!" moment, but we stayed there for an hour. Dave even managed to get in his afternoon nap. With none of the usual wind and with warm rays of sun beaming down on us, it was the thing to do.

On the All Trails app, it states that this is private property and the mine is operating once again. But we saw no signs of life so our group of 12 proceeded, staying right at the junction.

This waterfall provides a potable water source for the community below.

This is a long but not steep hike with an 11.1% grade, mostly being on a deactivated FSR.

Harrison River -- southwest.

Just a few weeks before we were up there looking this way, from Mt. Cartmell which is by the Sasquatch ski resort -- west. That's Echo Island, centre front.

About halfway up we ran into old snow. The path was well packed. No one ended up wearing snowshoes. But we all put our micro-spikes on for the descent.

The last few kms & 25 minutes were on a trail in this pretty forest filled with fir and hemlock trees.

The Cheam Range with the Fraser Valley & River inbetween.

The gang (excluding me): Anne, Lornezo, Tracey, Sheri, Irene, Heather, Dave, Charlene, Mark, Denise & Denise.

Quite the pose, Anne -- southeast.

Foley, Knight, Lady & Cheam Peaks. I've summited the three to the right.

Sumas Prairie -- southwest.

Harrison Lake - west.

Mt. Breakenridge -- northwest.

Grainger Peak in the centre of the skyline -- west.

Its easy to miss this old water truck, perched high above a creek.

A rainbow in the falls.

Remains of mine drilling samples by a decrepit abandoned office.
