January 21, 2026 -- Manning Park
Stats: 10.65 km / 750m gain / 1908m high / 3:40 hours MT (2:10 hrs to summit)
Want a good workout? This route isn't long but it's quite the grunt getting to the ridge and then to Bojo summit. Our loads were heavier because we took both micro-spikes and showshoes. But the pay off was worth the effort on this not-so-cold and wind-free day.

After getting our free snowshoe tickets, we cut across the ski slope and stayed left of this chairlift on the left side of the slope. And then stayed left again where two slopes merged.

Groovy.

Looking back at Mt. Frosty to the left and the Hozameens to the right -- south.

About 2/3 way up the ski slope we branched off to the left by a sign that read, "Poland Lake". That got us onto the ridge where the Poland Lake summer trail heads west. But we soon branched off again to ascend Grassy summit.

At the top of the rounded Grassy Mt most of us replaced our spikes with snowshoes -- east.

We then followed along the upper ridge on which there were numerous dips and swells in elevation.

Destination in sight: Bojo Peak. We had to drop down yet again to get onto the summer trail briefly before the final climb up Bojo's steep southeast slope.

Views from Bojo summit: east

Frosty to the left and Gibsons Meadows below with Mara summit and the ridge above the meadows -- south

Snowcamp left, Red Mt in the middle and the Hozameens -- south.

Heading down the southwest side of the slope to the summer trail.

Fred taking a jog down. He was a ski instructor at Manning for ten years!

Some of the snow was soft and some was hard which made for uneven and unpredictable steps.

Since it was only 2:00pm when we got back (having started at 9:00am), we agreed to stop at the lodge for drinks. The guys liked their beer and us ladies had coffee and hot chocolate. But we didn't get back to Chilliwack till 5:00pm. There was a slow-moving detour through Hope as they were working on fixing a host of big potholes on Hwy. 1.

Should've filled my wiper-wash. We stopped along the side of Hwy 3 and used snow to clean the windshield. Crystallized snow looked like art work.
