I just had to get out and hike. With only 3 days left till my flight to Slovenia where I'll be trekking through the Julian Alps, I needed to keep training for it. The day before the air was heavy with smoke, the air quality index being a high 8. The forecast for this day was not much better so I cancelled the hike (just like last week). But come morning, the skies were clear. So I grabbed my backpack and off I went. This popular trail was quite busy, the parking lot being overflowing when I returned at 1:00pm.

It was a privilege to watch this guy gear up and take off. He stood still as a statue for a few minutes, keeping his eyes on the wind-sock and flag. Then in the blink of an eye he was gone, flying like a bird.
