Nov. 27 - Stats: 15 km / 584m gain / 358m high point / 5:15 hours MT

We made the mistake of thinking this would be an easy trail with minimal elevation gain. Wrong. As is typical of the North Shore trails, the Big Cedar trail was rooty, rocky, wet and therefore slippery.

The first few km are shared with mountain bikers.

Then we came to a fork by the gnarly tree (pic 2) where we stayed right. Left goes to Mt. Fromme via the Kirkford trail.

We had to cross numerous creeks.

Roots, bog and more roots.

Apparently this trail keeps Search & Rescue busy. We could not take our eyes off of our feet and constantly had to brace, choosing our steps very carefully.

Remains of the old plank logging road.

No, this is not a creek. Its the trail.

Wow! The Big Cedar!

Arrived at Kennedy Falls which were flowing at full speed after weeks of rain.

The upper falls.
