March 25, 2025 -- Chilliwack

Stats: 15.4 km / 555m gain / 349m high point / 4:10 hours MT

Starting at the popular Qoqo:lem trailhead, we hiked over the north end of Vedder Mt, to Cultus Lake and then back via the Train trail. Spring came to visit, after many cold rainy days.

Mt. Cheam peeking through the clouds to the left. Many people were outside on this warm mostly sunny day.

I hike the Qoqo:lem trail every week but had never gone beyond this viewpoint.

Group shot minus me: Denise D, Sue A + Irene & Simon H

A bit past the viewpoint, a broad trail with a branch barrier veers off to the left. It soon narrows into a dirt path.

Goind down.

Hairy Curtain Crust Water was running high and creating new passage ways.

We connected with the lower Cultus Lake trails.

Then we turned right on the gravel Parmenter Rd.

Arrived at the campsite.

It felt sooo good to be out in the sun. It was so peaceful on this beach.

After a lunch break we headed back, soon leaving the road for a trail that skirted the lake.

A partially submerged firepit.

Main Beach on the other side of the lake.

Crossing the bridge to main beach.

This theme park was very busy with excited children, it being spring break.

We crossed over the Columbia Valley Hwy to get onto this trail that wound through some old growth forest.

At the end of the trail we crossed the Columbia Valley Hwy again, and got onto the broad Train trail that led back to the Qoqo:lem trail.

The upper center is where we started the hike, doing the loop counter-clockwise.
