May 10 - Stats: 16.5 km / 815m gain / 540m high point
Most of this trail is on private property. So when fellow hikers ask how to get there, I'm reluctant to let out our secrets. This was the second tour I gave to members of our Chilliwack Outdoor Club. The biggest secret was the biggest tree.
Here I'm showing them a campsite by a small waterfall, that my son levelled off. When he was digging, he found an old fire pit.
After an hour of hiking on Lucky's trail (named after our neighbour who created it) we came to an FSR that led us south to this farm. Here we turned right and continued on another FSR.
Close to the final lookout, we climbed a few feet onto some smooth rocks and took in this view of Columbia Valley. This pic shows the Canadian side on the left.
And this pic shows the American side. Silver Lake valley is to the left.

We had split into two groups and ended up meeting here at our lunch spot.

Western Spring Beauty.
Yes, my children spent lots of time playing in the mountain when they were teenagers. Now their children go with them.
Son Corwin claims this is the largest Douglas Fir in the Fraser Valley, at 245' high & 8' circumference.
