Vedder Summit

August 28, 2026 -- Abbotsford / Chilliwack

Stats: 10 km / 565m gain / 932m high / 3 hours MT

When Iraj posted this hike the day before, I thought I could squeeze in one more hike before the long flight to Amsterdam. This was a relaxing morning with eight of us + Mark and his dog, Jaxon who showed up at the trailhead just when we were ready to start. He ended up doing the whole hike with us.

Red-belted conk

It was noted by Ingrid F who hiked this trail the day before that this rope needed some correction. Patrick & Iraj checked it out on the way back.

At the viewpoint close to the summit -- northwest.

Very low water in the Vedder Canal and the Fraser River. Notice all the sand bars.

Not far past this pond, Iraj felt a wasp by his wrist, trying to get under his glove. It was the same spot that Ingrid F had warned him about. So Mark marked it with flagging tape. Fortunately no one got stung!
