Dewdney Mt.

Dewdney South & North trail loop in Mission, May 13 -- Stat: 7.12 km / 661m gain / 690m high point / 3 hours MT

This was the very first time Sonia led a hike. She knows this place like the back of her hand. The south trail is steeper than the north trail. We parked about 1.5 km up the gravel road by the north trailhead and walked down to the South trailhead, doing a large loop.

A steady relentless grunt up the South trail.

Waiting for the group to regroup.

We came out on several logging roads which cut back into the forest.

This helicopter kept flying right over us.

The snow level was at a low 620m. And that in May!

Fresh clear cut -- south.

As we came out on the second logging road, we dropped down a bit to this more expansive view.

Southeast towards Deroche & Chilliwack.

Sumas Mt. with the Fraser River running below it -- south.

We could see the Mission bridge to the far right -- southwest.

The Nicomen Slough and to the left of it, Nicomen Island. Right is the Matsqui Flats.

The final stretch to the cabin.

Making quick work of clearing the picnic table of snow.

Group shot: Kim, Alison, Kim, Ingrid, Case, Jerry Front row: Kathy, Sonia, me, Terry, Cal, Tracey, Audrey + Iraj. There were 5 people in this group that I'd never met before.

Sonia taking a pic. Heading back by way of the North trail.

The other side of this slope is where the "Canadian Whisky" springs used to be. Sad to see the logging companies have done more clear cutting.

Saskatoon Berry.

The Norrish Creek.

We started the hike by the two little ends in the upper right corner.

A visit to the Inch Creek salmon hatchery to check on Harry & Larry.

Larry is 6' long & Harry is 7.5' long. Larry, the lighter colored of the two, was being shy so we didn't see him this time. They are both rescue sturgeons and are both 80 years old!

Ended the outing at the Historic Dewdney Pub aka Church of the Blues.
