If you want to see wildflowers at their peak, this is the place to go. The abundance of blooms is exceptional this year. It was a relaxing day, meandering through the rolling meadows, surrounded by mountains on all sides.

Columbines. The first half an hour & 4 km, were downhill.

We took a quick break by Buckhorn campsite, the lowest part of the Heather Trail. From there it was mostly uphill.

Arnicas, lupines, daisies, deep red Indian Paint brush & Cow Parsnip.

The Second & First Bros. viewed from the Heather Meadows.

Some blue Larkspur -- southwest.

We ran into my daughter, Chelsey and my niece, Alicia (actually I told them we'd be hiking there the day before).

Approaching the ridge leading to the First Bros.

The only steep part of the trail was this slope leading to the Second & First Bros. summits.

About halfway up to the ridge, at a bend in the trail we turned left. There was no trail there but we soon connected to a faint trail along the ridge.

The First Bros. ridge and summit.

This was our first time on the Second Bros. summit. First Bros. is 52m higher than Second Bros.

The sun was shining more on the way back.

Mt. Frosty & the Hozameens on the horizon -- south.

The Fat Dog ridge.

Forest fires. We did not have any haze nor did we smell any smoke -- north to northeast.

Silver Tip Mt. was now fully exposed.

That last 40-minutes of gradual uphill seemed to go on forever.

Ahhh. Cold drinks. Chelsey & Alicia showed up a bit later because they'd gone on to summit the First Bros. as well.

A fitting way to end our most enjoyable day in beautiful Manning Park.
