There are not many hikes I haven't done in the Fraser Valley but this day I got to discover some new trails and huts. Even Sheri hiked a section of trail that was new to her. She is very familiar with this area and proved to be an apt guide. After the hike, we went to explore the ancient logging road Jerry found close to his home.

Our first stop of the day was at the hut that Wolf first built and lived in. Apparently there are about six huts that he built in these mountains.

Equipped to collect rain water.

The second hut was locked.

We peered through the window. Nice and tidy.

This photo captures the reflexions just as clearly as the room inside.

There were a lot of Foxgloves growing along the overgrown FSR.

Little Nicomen Mt (Raven's Nest) and Deroche flats.

Alders closing in on the FSR.

The Fraser River along the base of Chilliwack & Sumas Mountains.

Almost there.

This hut we were familiar with. It was built by Wolf and Ben's brothers. They carried all the building material up. Ben Von Hardenberg died in a helicopter crash in 2005.

Heading back down via the North trail.

We started hiking at the South trailhead but soon cut to the right, following alongside Norrish FSR.

After the hike we drove 10-minutes to Jerry's place. His yard is like a park.

Jerry was eager to show us his latest discovery: an ancient logging road that existed before his 85-year old house was built. Huge logs were evidence of former bridges.

Brigitte & I didn't dare cross on this log so we clambered up the steep bank.
