Post Creek by Chilliwack River

November 14, 2024 -- Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park

Stats: 12.5 km / 127m gain

This was a relaxing dog-friendly hike, ideal for a rainy day. We were back at the vehicles by early afternoon so we did the 50-minute hike to Bosumarne Falls afterwards.

We started out at an orange gate on the right side of Chilliwack Lake Rd, about 6 km from Chilliwack Lake.

In about 10-minutes the trail led us to a sign stating that thess were the Yukalaup Side spawning channels. They had dried up after years of development and logging. In 1997 restoration began and the channels now have year round water via culverts from the Chilliwack River.

A school of salmon.

Owen was our guide for the day. We spent about 15-minutes meandering along the channels and observing the salmon.

The trail then led us along the left side of the river. The TCT is on the opposite side.

For about 1/2 a kilimeter we passed private homes to our left.

Bosumarne Falls

Stats: 2.6 km / 142m gain

This short hike was just a few minutes drive up the road. After all the rain we'd had, it was a good time to check them out.

The broken bridge made crossing a bit trickier. The anti-slip wire mesh helped.

Ron is ever the gentleman on hikes, quick to lend a helping hand.
